


But it would get repetitive after the novelty of seeing new stuff wore off, because it would still be the same game, just like starting a new save in the original Subnautica will never be like starting the game completely new to it because you already know what to do. Could they just do the same game again with a different environment? Sure. Hence my skepticism about their ability to deliver a fresh take on Subnautica's gameplay loop. They tried to do it in BZ mainly with the temperature mechanics and surface biomes, but those were big flops that are far more annoying than interesting. It would need new mechanics and novel situations that make you engage with the gameplay in different ways to keep you on your toes. It wouldn't just need new environments and creatures - Below Zero has that. A true sequel might be nice especially if it brings back that fear of what you are actually going to find when you first start. I like exploring the unknown and I feel like that is where bz is lacking. I would if it's a new planet with no copy and paste creatures/models. It seems like they don't have a very good handle on how to build on what made the original special without just repeating it.
